Spotable develops software that turns aerial point clouds and imagery of buildings into parametric roof and façade models, and from those into material quantities and quotations. Contractors use the platform to measure roofs and façades, generate bills of materials, and produce quotes without on-site measurement. Our pipeline powers quoting for contractors across Europe and the US.
We are hiring a Point Cloud Reconstruction Engineer to work on the core processing pipeline.
What you will work on
- Reconstructing buildings in 3D from aerial point clouds and imagery
- Designing and implementing geometric algorithms for fitting, segmentation, simplification, and mesh generation
- Scaling the pipeline through spatial data structures and efficient indexing
- Solving the numerical optimisation problems that arise in geometric fitting and reconstruction
- Bringing classical ML models into the geometry stages of the pipeline
- Translating algorithms from recent research into production code
- Building internal tooling for inspecting and debugging geometric output
- Working with the computer vision, ML, and backend engineers to connect geometric output to material properties and pricing
Who you probably are
- Strong in Rust
- Solid foundations in computational geometry
- Familiar with common point cloud and mesh formats
- Working grasp of geospatial fundamentals: coordinate reference systems, projections, georeferencing
- You care about numerical robustness, geometric precision, and predictable performance, and you structure code for long-term maintainability
- Hands-on experience with classical ML algorithms
- You communicate clearly with ML and backend colleagues and are comfortable explaining geometric reasoning
Nice to have: a GIS background, computer graphics experience, exposure to CGAL or other computational geometry libraries, mesh processing, or a background in SLAM, AR/XR, or photogrammetric computer vision.
Why this role matters
Accurate geometry is the foundation of the product. Surface quality determines quantity accuracy, quantity accuracy determines quote accuracy, and quote accuracy determines whether contractors trust the platform. The work in this role directly affects how reliably contractors can use Spotable to do real jobs on real buildings.
