Location: UK-based, fully remote, with travel as required

Scope: UK NHS

The opportunity

EBO develops conversational AI and patient engagement technology for healthcare organisations, with proven solutions already deployed across NHS Trusts.

We are looking for an experienced Business Development Director to accelerate EBO’s growth across the UK NHS, winning new customers and expanding our position within one of our most important markets.

This is a senior, hands-on new business role for someone who wants to create opportunities, build relationships and win complex enterprise deals. You will take ownership of a defined part of the NHS market, with specific territories, sectors and named accounts agreed as part of EBO’s wider sales strategy.

You will have access to EBO’s broader healthcare technology portfolio, with a focus on taking our leading AI-powered solutions to organisations looking to transform patient access, engagement and operational delivery.

This is not a role built around waiting for inbound opportunities. We are looking for someone who wants the challenge of creating pipeline, opening doors and building something significant within a fast-moving international AI company.

What you will own

New business development
  • Develop and execute a focused new business strategy across your agreed NHS territory, sectors and target accounts.
  • Identify, create and qualify new enterprise opportunities, with a clear focus on winning new NHS customers.
  • Build your own pipeline through targeted account development, outbound activity, networking, events, referrals and existing relationships.
  • Develop relationships with senior NHS stakeholders and establish EBO as a credible strategic technology partner.
  • Understand customer priorities, challenges and transformation programmes, identifying where EBO can deliver meaningful clinical, operational and commercial value.
  • Build account plans for priority organisations and maintain clear strategies for progressing them from target account through to active opportunity.

    Enterprise sales execution

  • Own opportunities throughout the sales cycle, from initial engagement and discovery through to commercial negotiation and close.
  • Lead high-quality discovery with NHS organisations, translating complex requirements into commercially compelling propositions.
  • Work closely with EBO’s pre-sales and technical teams to develop solutions that address customer requirements while remaining commercially viable and scalable.
  • Deliver compelling presentations, demonstrations and proposals to senior stakeholders and buying groups.
  • Navigate complex NHS buying processes involving multiple stakeholders, procurement requirements and extended decision-making cycles.
  • Lead and contribute to tenders, frameworks, procurement exercises and commercial negotiations, supported by the wider EBO team.
  • Maintain momentum across opportunities and take responsibility for progressing deals towards clear commercial outcomes.

Pipeline and commercial performance
  • Build and maintain a strong, genuinely qualified new-business pipeline.
  • Maintain accurate opportunity, account and forecasting information within HubSpot.
  • Apply disciplined qualification throughout the sales process, focusing time and resources on opportunities with a credible route to close.
  • Provide clear and realistic forecasts, identifying risks, dependencies and next actions across your pipeline.
  • Work closely with the UK Sales Director on larger or more complex strategic opportunities while retaining ownership and accountability for deal progression.

Building EBO’s NHS presence

This role goes beyond individual transactions. You will represent EBO in the NHS market, developing relationships and creating greater awareness of our technology among senior healthcare leaders.

You will work alongside Marketing on targeted campaigns, events and account-based activity, ensuring commercial follow-through from market engagement.

You will also bring intelligence back into the business. Working with Sales, Product, Marketing, pre-sales and senior leadership, you will help EBO understand emerging NHS priorities, customer requirements, competitor activity and opportunities for future growth.

Working across EBO

You will report directly to the UK Sales Director and work closely with EBO’s established Marketing, pre-sales, technical and Product teams.

You will have senior leadership support throughout complex opportunities, alongside the technical expertise required to sell sophisticated AI technology into enterprise healthcare environments.

EBO operates internationally, and you will also collaborate with colleagues across the wider business where customer, technology or commercial opportunities overlap.

What success looks like

Success in this role will be measured by your commercial impact:

  • Consistent creation of high-quality, qualified NHS pipeline.
  • New NHS organisations choosing EBO as a technology partner.
  • Strong relationships with senior decision-makers across priority accounts.
  • Effective ownership and progression of complex enterprise opportunities.
  • Disciplined qualification, pipeline management and forecasting.
  • Increasing EBO’s visibility and credibility within the UK healthcare technology market.
  • Sustainable revenue growth from new NHS customers.

Your initial priorities

Your first months will focus on developing a deep understanding of EBO’s technology, customers and market position, while establishing clear ownership of your target market.

You will build account plans, activate priority relationships, create new opportunities and establish a strong qualified pipeline, working closely with the UK Sales Director and wider commercial team.

The expectation is that you build momentum quickly while developing the market knowledge and relationships required for sustained enterprise sales performance.

What you will bring

  • A proven track record of winning new business within enterprise software, SaaS, AI or technology.
  • Evidence of independently generating pipeline and converting opportunities into meaningful commercial revenue.
  • Experience navigating complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise sales cycles.
  • Strong commercial judgement across qualification, negotiation, forecasting and deal strategy.
  • Confidence engaging senior executives and decision-makers, with the ability to build credibility quickly.
  • The ability to understand sophisticated technology and translate it into clear customer and commercial value.
  • A proactive approach to business development and the discipline to create opportunities rather than rely on inbound demand.
  • Strong communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
  • The resilience, pace and personal accountability required to succeed in a growing technology business.

Experience selling technology into the NHS or wider UK healthcare market would be highly advantageous, particularly where this includes an established network of senior healthcare relationships.

However, NHS experience is not essential. We are equally interested in exceptional enterprise technology sales professionals who can demonstrate the ability to learn complex markets quickly, build senior relationships and consistently win new business.

You will be comfortable taking ownership, challenging assumptions and operating with a high degree of autonomy. You will want to work in an environment where the pace is high, expectations are clear and strong performance creates significant opportunity.

The support to succeed

You will have access to EBO’s established Marketing, pre-sales, Product and technical expertise, alongside senior leadership support for strategic opportunities.

You will also have access to established sales technology, market intelligence and EBO’s existing NHS customer footprint to support your development of the market.

The opportunity is to join a growing international AI business at an important stage of its UK healthcare expansion, take genuine ownership of a significant market and play a direct role in EBO’s continued growth.

Package and benefits

  • Competitive base salary with uncapped commission and strong on-target earning potential.
  • Company pension plan.
  • Fully remote, UK-based working.
  • Support from established Marketing, pre-sales, Product and technical teams.
  • The opportunity to play a major commercial role within a growing international AI business.
